Are you a solid member?

This is an excellent question as there many groups that seem to have a lot of great members simply because they are popular. But what about the exchange of referrals? Is it happening & is it a fair exchange? What is it that you bring to the table or in this case, the networking group? As a member of any networking group, you are always on the look out for people you can refer business to. In order to be effective, you need to remember not to keep all your eggs in one basket. In other words-spread the wealth. If you are a member of too many groups, it is the equivalent of only being a part of just one. You either exhaust the resources of your current group or you don’t have enough referrals to go around. It is a balance of time & energy.
A solid, well-balanced member takes their time with proper introductions & doesn't run people over. Remember Like-Know-Trust is the key to surviving the network market. Don't deliver empty promises. If you know too many people that work in one industry then it is unfair to say you can help them all. If a group is too concentrated in only certain areas of business, it will not be able to sustain the weight. Before you join, look at the membership for this reason. Know your group & you will know your success or failure rate.
Here are a few key things solid networkers do: They refer business, they follow up, they remember who they Like-Know-Trust & they have a plan.  They are about the creating strong relationships with others. Networkers who get it are always around! They seem to know everyone & are always willing to be apart of the solution! So the Question is Are YOU a solid networker?
