Building blocks are the support to everything we do. Why wouldn’t we apply the same principals to our schedules for the sake of getting more done?

Take a look at your daily activities and start grouping like chores together. Then start to section off blocks of time for when each type of activity will get done. Assign specific activities to each activity type block.

 

For example, schedule a specific time or two each day for communications. During these times, you would check voicemail and return phone calls. You may also check e-mail and respond accordingly. Once complete, move on to the next block which could be prospecting, business planning, administrative duties or selling.

Having a block schedule will help you prioritize each task so that you are not interrupting other activities to take care of something that just pops up. You can then add those “pop ups” to your list of things-to-do to manage during the next correlating block time.
