Whose On Your Team?
By: Jenifer Wonn
As you examine a professional baseball game, you realize a successful business is much like a sporting team. Every player is given a position, much like each person contributes in a department to an organization. Everyone is striving for two goals; one, to win, and two, to have fun doing it. For this to happen, every teammate is going to have to walk on the field fully aware they are going to get dirty. Players truly need to put in their blood, sweat, and tears to prove their hard work and dedication to keep a spot on the team.
In an organization, it is important that everyone is on the same playing field, which is what ultimately produces results. You want key players who are going to go the extra mile and who can taste the win as much as you. This is stressed so often, it is not about the quantity in the team, it is about the quality. Take a good look around you. Do your team members want to achieve the organizational goals just as much as you? Are they going to dive for a few catches, and take a few cleats to the shin to achieve the goals you all hope for. This year, sort out the key players you want on your team so you can finally take home a little jar of dirt from the World Series.
